Very Reverend Leo J. O'Donovan, S.J.,
President of Georgetown University

was born in New York City in 1934. He holds degrees from Georgetown University, Fordham University, Woodstock College, and the University of Munster, where he received his doctorate in theology.

He has held a Fulbright Scholarship and a Danforth Fellowship.

He has taught at Loyola College (Baltimore), Woodstock College, Union Theological Seminary, and the Weston Jesuit School of Theology. In addition, he has served as provincial assistant for formation in the Maryland Province of the Society of Jesus and was a visiting fellow at the Woodstock Theological Center.

He has edited five books, the most recent of which is entitled Faithful Witness: Foundations of Theology for Today's Church, and has published numerous articles.

He currently serves as a professor of theology and president of Georgetown University.

Father O'Donovan was ordained to the priesthood in the Society of Jesus in 1966.
